Published February 2008 The SnowSphere Clothing line has just been launched with the creation of the Snowboard Japan Torii T-shirt, the first in a series of designs that reflect the ethos of SnowSphere Magazine - which is travelling the world to explore the finest snow sport destinations on the planet. Each design will combine national icons, language and culture with skiing and snowboarding to produce a unique design which reflects the diversity of the world's mountains and their host nations. To launch the SnowSphere Clothing Line we have created the Snowboard Japan 'Torii' T -shirt. Why Japan? Well, the land of sumo and sushi continues to hold a very special place in our heart, as the birthplace and inspiration for SnowSphere.com; editor Sam Baldwin spent two years snowboarding in rural Japan, exploring little known ski resorts, feasting on spectacular powder snow and enjoying the crazy cultural adventure and heart warming hospitality of Japan and the Japanese locals. About the Japan Snowboard Torii T-Shirt The large gate-like object which the snowboarder is sliding is called a "torii". These are a very common feature of the Japanese landscape and are often seen in and around temples, as well as spanning roads and footpaths. They often mark the entrance to a scared or respected place. The Japanese characters - known as Kanji - read "Nihon", which means "Japan". The shirts are available in a range of different print and fabric colours, in both male and female cuts. In the coming months, new SnowSphere designs will be introduced, so be sure to keep checking back for more. The shirts start at £16 + p&p and can be ordered from the SnowSphere Clothing Shop. We hope you like them.
