The Skier vs Snowboarder Feud in Japan

I was recently contacted by Fitness Japan Magazine who wanted to interview me with regards to the skier vs snowboarder feud in Japan. Though Japan is highly futuristic in some ways, in others it is quite behind the times and there are still many ski resorts in Japan that do not permit snowboarding all the time. (Compare this to North America where just four skier-only resorts remain).

In fact, even whilst snowboarding in Fukui, the small prefecture which I was pleased to call my home for two years, I discovered there were at least three ski areas that were not fully open to snowboarders. Despite this, I never experienced any tension on the slopes and often went snowboarding with skiers, and would say that my experiences of snowboarding in Japan were the most enjoyable of any country I've visited to far.
